Christ i Iris Dressler Izložba znakovitog naslova O nelagodi promatranja grada koja se u travnju održava u Muzeju moderne i suvremene umjetnosti u Rijeci, premijerno je predstavljena u Stuttgartu 2012. godine u izvornoj verziji kao Oh, My Complex: On Unease At Beholding The City (O.M.C.). U Rijeku je doputovala kao dio manifestacije Moje tvoje naše u organizaciji udruge Drugog mora, kojoj se pored MMSU-a, pridružilo nekoliko partnera kojima je zajednička namjera propitati teme odnosa ljudi i njihovog životnog prostora, odnosa građana i grada. Okosnica programa ostaje kao i do sada, na sferi organizacije života, polazeći od stajališta da kuće čine naselje, a građani čine grad (Rousseau). U selekciji kustosa Likovnog društva pokrajine Baden-Würtemberg - Hansa D. Christa i Iris Dressler, radovi s različitih perspektiva propituju podjednako stvarne i imaginarne građevine unutar gradskog prostora. Nazivom preuzetim po video performansu jednog od izlagača, južnokorejskog umjetnika Lima Minouka, u središte pažnje postavlja ideološke zaklone urbanih vizija koji se manifestiraju u modernističkim urbanim utopijama i u modelima neoliberalnog procvata gradova, ali i u onim kriznim scenarijima koji zauzimaju naš kolektivni imaginarni svijet od 1970ih – ponajviše od izdanja poznatog izvještaja iz 1972. godine The Limits of Growth.

Christ Grupo Baja Mar Ricardo Basbaum, Igor Vamos, Dale Yeo, Elisabeth Mc Lendon, Daniel García Andújar Cerrado - Estamos Vigilando – Ocup do (Closed – We are watching – Occup d), 1994 Video documentation of a threepart intervention with rakes at the beaches Playa de Gros and Playa de La Concha in San Sebastian in July 1994.   In 1994, Spanish-American artist Antoni Muntadas was offered a solo show at the Arteleku art institute in San Sebastian. He instead suggested a workshop for art students, which finally led to the project Urban Intervention , runed by Muntadas and artists such as Hans Haacke and Krzysztof Wodiczko. Among the participants were Ricardo Basbaum, Igor Vamos (better known these days as The Yes Men), Dale Yeo, Elisabeth Mc Lendon and Daniel García Andújar, who together made up the Grupo Baja Mar (low tide). Their project consisted of three conceptual pieces done at the Gros and La Con - cha beaches. They used rakes to write three statements in the sand, one after the other, at low tide – cerrado (closed), estamos vigilando (we are watching), and ocup [ ] do (occup [ ] d).

Über die Poetiken / Politiken der Stimme

13. Oktober 2012 – 13. Januar 2013 Acts of Voicing ist ein zweijähriges Projekt, das sich der ästhetischen, performativen und politischen Bedeutung der Stimme aus den Bereichen bildende Kunst, Tanz / Performance und Theorie nähert. Ausgangspunkt ist dabei die Befragung jener Ordnung, die die Stimmen der Einen als Rede, und die der Anderen als bloßen Schrei vernehmen lässt: das heißt, jene Aufteilung zwischen den aus der politischen Gemeinschaft Aus- und in diese Eingegrenzten. Wie lassen sich mit den Mitteln der Kunst – konkret der bildenden Kunst und des Tanzes – einerseits, und der Theorie andererseits die Stimmen der Nicht-Gehörten, eine andere Kultur des Zuhörens und eine Kultur des Streits (des Unvernehmens) ins Spiel bringen? Inwiefern können sich künstlerische und theoretische Methoden dabei gegenseitig durchdringen, zu- und miteinander sprechen? Wie lassen sich Stimme, Raum und Wissen zum Tanzen bringen? In einem gemeinsamen Prozess, an dem KünstlerInnen, Choreografen, TheoretikerInnen und KuratorInnen aus Europa, Asien und Südamerika beteiligt sind, sollen diese und weitere Fragen verhandelt, neue Arbeiten produziert und auch die Ausstellungschoreografie entwickelt werden. Denn neben der inhaltlichen Beschäftigung mit den Politiken und Poetiken der Stimme, möchte Acts of Voicing auch die Möglichkeiten und Grenzen eines performativen Ausstellungsmodells ausloten. Geplant ist eine Choreografie, bei der sich das Ausstellungsszenario selbst immer wieder verändert. Entstehen soll ein dynamisches Raumgefüge, das immer neue und überraschende Beziehungen zwischen Exponaten und Ereignissen, Ausstellung und Aufführung, ästhetischer und diskursiver Praxis sowie Kunst und Betrachter herstellt.

Along an open parcourse, which connects exterior and interior space, the exhibition presents the works of over twenty artists who have honed in on the urban-development, social, political, and economic lines of conflict within the city. Their works touch upon historical documents and objects from pop- and sub-culture contexts. Presented are not only existing works, but also those conceptualized especially for this setting.

Here, Andújar examines developments after the collapse of the Wall not from the aspect of postcommunism, but postcapitalism. He is concerned with the question of how “Western” societies have changed without their former counterpart, communism, and what kinds of new walls were built through global politics after 1989 and 2001.
